Or the Place Sometimes Called Hungry Hill
2015 · Fusebox Festival / thinkEAST, Austin
A bilingual, teen-led short documentary: two students from Eastside Memorial High School film their daily walk to school across fields and railroad tracks in East Austin, one of the city’s fastest-gentrifying neighbourhoods.
Commissioned by Fusebox Festival and thinkEAST as part of thinkEAST’s ArtPlace America grant, the film was screened at the festival from April 10, 2015.
It explores Latino identity, criminality and cultural equity, following the route that Pete and Raymond Rivera first walked to the same school nearly five decades earlier.
