Short documentary

The Kellers

2014 · KLRU-Austin (PBS)

Dan Keller, a daycare operator falsely convicted with his wife Fran during the “satanic ritual abuse” panic, tells the story of the case after his release in 2013, and of the paintings he made in prison from instant coffee, water and cotton swabs.

The story

The Kellers was the first in a planned series of short documentaries on criminal justice in Texas. Its companion piece, Stratagem #27: The Life & Death of Tim Cole, tells the story of Tim Cole’s posthumous exoneration.

KLRU-Austin, the city’s PBS station, acquired the film.
